Wow, how much has changed in 20 years!  I was a total geek in high school and now I have a Ph.D. in engineering from MIT and I work as a scientist for a national lab.

OK, so maybe not so much has changed.

Life's good though, so I guess the geek thing works for me.  I have been married for five years and we have a wonderful two year old boy (Avery).  Living in the desert was a big adjustment after growing up in Michigan, but I love it now.  The gravel under the swingset in the picture is the Albuquerque equivalent of a lawn.  The up side is you don't have to mow it and you can park your car on it in a pinch with no worries.

Like many others, I spent my time wandering around the U.S. after graduating from U of M in 1992.  I ended up becoming a first grade teacher in Long Beach, CA, where I met my life partner Kat.  We now live in Michigan with our 3 kids.  We decided that we wanted to homeschool our kids, so that is how I spend my days - and I must say that I absolutely love it.

Hi Everyone! It’s great to hear what’s been happening with you all the past 20 years! As with me, I finally got a chance to write this so here we go …

After high school I moved to Vienna (Austria) and have been here since. I attended the ESA (European Secretarial Academy for foreign languages) and started working first at Young & Rubicam and then switched to Coca-Cola (East Central European Division) where I spent 8 great years in division marketing (most of 90s). While working at Coke I met Wolfgang (Wolfi) and we’ve been married now for almost 10 years. We have 3 great BOYS (Alexander – 7, Christian – 6 and Andreas 2 ½) who keep us busy! I’ve been home with the kids for almost 8 years and in my spare time give private English lessons to kindergarden and elementary children from home. We now live south of Vienna, so if anyone is travelling around in Europe and are close by, give us a ring!

Please e-mail me too! It’s great hearing from old friends!
Looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion!

Hello everyone! It was really interesting to read about everybody after 20 yrs.! After High school, I attended College to become a psychologist and realized this was not for me! I went back to Macomb Community College, and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. So I guess what I am saying is I like working with animals better than people! But Seriously I can actually say after all these years, I still love going to work everyday and enjoy what I do. I have worked at Specialty Animal hospitals, and I loved the Vet Tech program at Macomb so much I went back and became a Clinical Pathology, and Radiology Instructor for many years. I have volunteered at the Detroit Zoo hosp, and been able to work with many exotics! You know that show "Animal attacks"-it's true AVOID the elephants! I have been pinned twice  and yes still by some miracle I am fine. It is still my ultimate goal-to be a Zoo Veterinary Technician. I did get married in 1996, and had two wonderful children. I am happily divorced now! I live in Harrison Twp still with my kids( and a small zoo of our own) and the kids actually attend the elementary school I went to. Guess I really did like L'Anse Creuse!  Look forward to seeing you in August!

Hi Lancers,

My husband and I met in college and have been married for 11 years. My favorite subject in high school became my career, accounting.  Besides working as a finance manager I am a financial consultant for private physicians.  I moved back to Harrison Twp about 3 years ago where my husband and I purchased a house 20 houses from my parents (yes, they still live in the house I grew up in). We do not have any children but are very busy with volunteer work and our careers.

Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends.

A big hello to everyone!
Kari Sabins (Ballard) just reminded me again that I need to add something to the website because I am "missing".
We have decided not ta attend the 20th reunion due to financial priorities!

Guess I should back up....
After graduation, I got a BS in education from WSU.  During my college days, I met my future husband, Chris.  We had a long engagement and now married 14 years.  I taught 7th grade for 4 years and decided to do the stay-at-home mom thing after the birth of our first child.  We now have 3 children:  Abigail - 9, Erica - 7,  and Anthony - 4 (almost).  (I'm hoping to upload a photo)

We love camping and just upgraded our camper this year.  In fact, we just got back from the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky.  Great trip, gas was a big "ouch" but we'd do it again.

We bought my parents house about 5 years ago.  So, my children are growing up in the very same house that I did.  How cool is that?  Because we are back in Harrison Township, I'm amazed at the number of Lancers I've bumped into......at the grocery store, bank, Metro Beach, school, soccer, swimming, church.

I guess I just can't seem to get the L'Anse Creuse out of me because a couple of years ago I started working part-time in the evening for L'Anse Creuse in Adult Education.

We won't be making the HS tour either.  The kids are going vacationing with Grandma and Grandpa that weekend.  We have been able to see the changes through the years (the kids attend swimming on Saturdays there).  Wish they had a pool when we went there!

Hope everyone has a great (and safe) time!
Hey committee...how about a family-type picnic for a 25th reunion????

Hugs,
Laura

P.S. I ran into Ginger Wrigglesworth last summer up north at a fair.  I wrote her phone number down on a napkin that I inadvertently through out.  Could someone let her know that I'd love to get back in touch.
